Toni Smart, of Smart Group, REALTORS® began working with the Habitat for Humanity this past year. The Habitat for Humanity helps build houses and hope for low income families. The houses that are built are at no profit and interest would not be charged on the loans. Building costs are financed by a revolving fund called “The Fund for Humanity.”
One volunteer project involved getting together with local realtors who were doing painting and carpentry work on one of the homes that was being built (see picture to right). It was a great way to build relationships with fellow Realtors in a community effort, while making a better life for others.
Toni is also involved with Habitat for Humanity in serving lunch on a monthly basis to the volunteers that work on building the homes. Serving lunch is a great way to serve and provides an opportunity to network with the volunteers to see if they would be interested in buying or selling a home.
This is one of many outreach programs in which Toni Smart is involved. In addition to the Habitat for Humanity, Toni is active in working with San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries which helps end homelessness. As well as working with the American Heart Association, which works toward raising awareness of heart disease. Being involved in these community events will be networking opportunities, while serving the needs of those in the San Antonio area.
